Hi all, I just had to post this after I just watched Landscape Artist of the Year.

I recognised the scene immediately as we were in Inveraray last week on holiday and was stood on the same spot. The boat is there but berthed up against the jetty and I took a picture for future reference in my quest to learn Watercolour, however, I am also trying to learn digital art on Procreate as I take my I Pad on holiday and thought it would be nice to maybe do a painting or two at times.

So, this is just a bit of fun and it’s my first digital painting.

I think that’s pretty good for a first on Procreate. I do have the app, but not used it much.

Thanks Pete. It’s is fun, and difficult, but I wish my real Watercolour painting would improve

Very nice, Jim! I know nothing about digital art. This is a lovely, soft, loose painting.

thanks Judy, as I see it a lot of digital art is ‘cartoons’ which I am not interested. My first dream is to learn watercolour painting but the convienience of having my Ipad with me most of the time, especially on our annual flights to USA for 9 hours or more, means I can have a play with trying to produce watercolour ‘style’ mementos of our visits. I do of coarse take lots of photos as reference for my efforts at watercolour painting but I think that day is a while away just yet.

I think the only way for me to learn will be to ‘waste’ lots of paper and paint.

Wow, Jim, if you hadn’t said, I would’ve thought this was an actual watercolor painting! It’s beautiful! You did such a great job! That’s a good idea to use digital painting as practice while you’re on the go. I didn’t even know “watercolor” could be done digitally!  😀

If that’s a first attempt at digital I can’t wait to see what you do after a bit of practice.   It’s a lovely soft, evocative painting.  Well Done.
