Hi all, my first painting posted here so hope it works.

I have been here a while now, not taking part, but look in regular and this site is my go to site most days.

I came across one of your members Pete Batho who has encourage me and helped with advice more than you would believe, I am so grateful.

This scene is a tutorial by Terry Harrison that Pete suggested I tried.

I enjoyed the challenge and though my colours and mixing leaves a lot to be desired I hope to progress, slowly, in learning to paint Watercolour and post more here.

@jimbo24 Hi Jim. This is an excellent effort. You have achieved a wonderful sky, and that in itself is not an easy task. Your shadows are nicely varied in colour and tone and the stonework on the side of the barn is convincing. The only small point I’ll mention, if you don’t mind a critique, is the tonal values of the distant crop of trees. They are almost the same tonal value as the side of the barn and would have worked better if the distant trees were slightly lighter and perhaps a touch bluer. This would push them back into the distance. As I said at the start I think it’s an excellent effort though. One to be proud of, and your colour mixing is pretty good. I know Terry uses some of his own branded colours so you have to make a ‘best guess’ sometimes. I look forward to your next contribution.

    Pete.
