    Lousy attempt to paint old flower mill. Use to have an old waterwheel laying around when I was little. I went too far with shadow colors. But makes front of the old mill stand out.

    Yes,   very dark shadows on the building.   Perhaps you could lift some of the pigment to lighten it.   Some gravel, leaves and more color on the road might be something to do.  Good subject well painted.

    Shadows really are the key to painting light.  I’m just starting to figure that out. I have always attempted to paint the subject.  But I’m starting to understand that by doing so I only get something “blah.” I have to try to paint the pattern of darks and lights–not easy! Your painting has real sunshine in it!

    Thanks everyone. After going through my mishap paintings I’ve decided to shred this one for sake of recycling purposes.
